Manuel Sirgo
Position: Managing Director of L’Idem Madrid
Manuel’s career began in 1982, but his big leap into cinema came at the hand of the emblematic Cruz Delgado studios, where he participated as an apprentice in the feature film Gulliver’s Travels.
From those first steps, his talent as an animation artist led him to collaborate with entertainment giants that we all know:
Hanna-Barbera: Working on icons such as The Jetsons and The Smurfs.
Disney: Contributing his art to DuckAdventures: The Movie and the hit series Phineas & Ferb.
Warner Bros: Participating in the mythical Batman series.
European Production Companies: He collaborated on hits such as Las Tres Mellizas (Cromosoma) and Babar (Nelvana).
In 1997, Manuel took a decisive step by founding his own production company: 12 Pingüinos S.L. Under this label, he has not only provided services to the best channels in the world (Cartoon Network, TVE, Disney), but has also garnered the highest honors in Spanish cinema.
A member of the Film Academy since 2002, Sirgo has two of the most coveted awards on its bookshelf:
Goya Award (2002): Best Animated Short Film for the funny piece Pollo.
Goya Award (2019): Best Animated Short Film for the acclaimed work Cazatalentos.
Beyond brushes and light tables, Manuel Sirgo has shown an unwavering commitment to teaching. Since 1994, he has shared his knowledge in prestigious institutions such as the Complutense University of Madrid and the ESNE University, where he served as director of the Degree in Animated Film for a decade.
News: Today, he continues to lead the sector as Managing Director of the international school L’Idem Madrid, where he continues to shape the future of animated film.
